The Museum of the American Railroad offers indoor and outdoor experiences for visitors and students of North Texas! With a collection of over 50 pieces of life-sized railroad rolling stock, visitors and students are able to actually climb aboard pieces of American history while learning about the effect the railroads had on the movement of people and goods, the spread of cultures, the evolution of technology and more. The Museum also recently opened a new indoor exhibit called TrainTopia which is a 2,500 sq. ft. model train layout inside the Frisco Discovery Center. TrainTopia is a wonderful teaching tool and tourist attraction for the Museum. It appeals to everyone ages 1 to 101. The Museum's trains and model trains allow us to educate the public and surrounding school districts, and remain a relevant attraction in the North Texas market.

Mission
Founded in 1963, the Museum of the American Railroad is a non-profit Texas corporation dedicated to celebrating the heritage and exploring the future of railroads through historic preservation, research, & educational programming. The museum collects artifacts and archival material from the railroad industry to exhibit and interpret their significance in American life and culture. Educational programs are available to schools and universities through study trips, in-class programming & outreach.

The Museum of the American Railroad is dedicated to actively pursuing diversity in leadership, programming, exhibits, collections interpretation, and events which advance inclusion and racial equality in the North Texas community and beyond.
We are committed to exploring American railroad history and technology through programming which focuses on the diverse workforces that built rail lines, the individuals that worked in the rail industry at large, the people that rode the rails, the communities that sprang up because of the railroad, and the diverse cultural exchanges that took place because of the freedom of movement brought about by the railroad.
The Museum is also committed to engaging in dialogue and employing programming, interpretation and exhibits that address inequality, injustice, and racism throughout history. The Museum will continue to work closely with other North Texas cultural institutions and experts to present broader, more inclusive interpretation of railroad history, oftentimes using the Museum's collection as tangible examples.
The Museum is grateful for the opportunity to use its collections as teaching tools that will help work toward a more just, equal society.
