We are a young US-based organization that is working with local Kenyans to build an all girls school in Kisii, Kenya. Our goal is to provide opportunities for girls and young women to participate in high quality, applied sciences based educational programs.
Our core values are:
- Integrity: Being truthful and transparent
- Sustainability: Creating a positive quality of life and lasting legacy
- Agency: Building opportunities for all to develop and use their strengths as they choose
- Compassion: Acting with empathy and understanding
- Community: Nurturing an environment that recognizes and supports differences in others
Startup funding to provide working capital that supports our continued fundraising efforts. We are working toward raising $250,000 to purchase land, build classrooms, hire staff and faculty, and provide financial support to orphaned girls and those whose families cannot afford their school fees to attend school.
Partnering with communities to build educational experiences that:
-improve quality of life
-empower leaders
-foster collaborative relationships
-encourage reciprocal learning.
Msomi Academy for Girls, Inc. is committed to improving access to education for all children in Kenya, with an emphasis on girls. Within the United States, our organization is fully volunteer staffed, as we are a young organization. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, SeS, or any other traditionally marginalized group with which someone identifies. We are committed to ensuring a healthy and equitable volunteer workforce and place and demonstrate this through the current diversity of our volunteer staff.
