Programs at this library serve people of all ages without regard to any group or category. There are toddler reading/prereading programs, Tail Wagging Readers and young readers, book club, writers' club, anime events, and celebrations of our heritages as well as our cultural diversity. The library hosts events like "Big Machine Expo" where children (and the child at heart) can explore the big machines that work in our community. Scare on the Square is a huge event sponsored by the library. December brings more than 1000 people, many in their pajamas, to ride the Polar Express train and "live" the event.

Our Needs

  1. We raise funds to support our library's extremely popular summer reading program (estimated cost of 2021 was $10,000).
  2. We also fund learning and fun events provided during school breaks and after school. We will continue to monetarily support tutors, teachers, technology, and non-traditional programs that have proven to enhance the community of Cedar Hill.
  3. We would like to expand the technology for children, tweens, teens and the public in general. Free computers with internet are in use over 80% of the time. More computers and upgraded computers are on the wish list. The children's reading station, AWE Learning Systems, are $3300 each. Two new AWE stations would be wonderful.
  4. We would like to fulfill the teens' wishes for virtual reality equipment and new furniture for their space.
  5. We are also interested in raising money for a mobile book vehicle to bring books to those who cannot come to the library.
