$5,000 Goal

The soul of a church leader shapes the soul of the church. The soul of the church shapes the soul of the community.

The soul of our church leaders and churches has been decidedly male. Yet, at present the church is 60% female and growing. Going forward, churches must have men and women leading together, equally, without exception. That's a hard road, and women often bear the heaviest load in that journey. Studies show that women have higher expectations placed on them than their male counterparts. Women are paid less. Women are more likely to have their job description changed. Eleven:28 Covenant Groups provide safe spaces for women to share in this winding journey to a church that leads together. Shared spiritual practices, deep friendships, and empathy for the experiences of other women make Covenant Groups a unique space for women's souls to flourish and for their church leadership to be transformed.

Covenant Groups have tended the souls of women leading churches in Rowlett, Plano, Allen, McKinney, Grand Prairie, Arlington, Fort Worth, Frisco, Richardson, Garland, Mesquite, and Dallas.

Our Needs

Eleven:28 ministries has set a goal to raise $10,000 during the North Texas Giving Day campaign. This is the amount required for us to properly compensate the women who lead these groups on a monthly basis. Therefore every gift is a gift not only to women leading the groups but also to women they are caring for throughout the year. When we meet this goal, 3 group leaders will be able to meet the needs of up to ten women each. That's 30 women in churches who will have more energy, be less likely to burn out, and will have deep friendships they can call on when ministry gets harder.

Mission

Eleven:28 cultivates soul care. We exist to counter the causes and effects of burnout especially among women who are pastors, nonprofit leaders, educators, and healthcare workers. We take our name from Matthew 11:28 where Jesus invites the tired, worn out, and burned out on religion to come away with him and rest.

Equity Statement

Blessed are the poor in spirit but we have been rich in pride.

Blessed are those who mourn but we have resisted sorrow for our sin.

Blessed are the meek but we are a stiff-necked people.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness but we are filled with lustful power.

Blessed are the merciful but we are harsh, dismissive, and impatient.

Blessed are the pure in heart but we have impure hearts longing for dominance.

Blessed are the peacemakers but we have been warmongers and not sought reconciliation.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness but we have been the persecutors.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me but we have hardly made it known that we are yours by our bigotry and hatred and complicity.

We plead with You to give us contrite hearts forgive our sins and give us passion for the work of repentance.

I want you, white church, to change the way that you use money, wield force, understand history, vote, and fear God's beloved children who wear dark skin. Those individual changes build to revolutionize a system of racially motivated oppression.
