Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County is a nonprofit serving children who have entered the child welfare system because of allegations of abuse and neglect in their home. When a child enters the system, a trained and supported CASA volunteer is appointed to the case and speaks up for the child’s best interest in court. One advocate per case, for the entire life of the case.
CASA volunteers research each child's situation, work alongside the professionals involved, and make informed recommendations directly to the court. In Denton County, CASA recommendations become the final placement over 90% of the time, one of the strongest track records in the state. While caseworkers and attorneys rotate and carry heavy caseloads, a CASA volunteer is often the one constant a child has throughout their case.
The mission of CASA of Denton County, Inc. is to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse and neglect. Our trained and supported community volunteers build a strong, consistent relationship with each child and their family, promote community resources, and make informed recommendations to the court.
