Since 1972, The Fort Worth Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) has served as the premier patriotic organization to the communities of Tarrant County. This has been accomplished thru the holding of patriotic events such as the annual Massing of the Colors each November. In addition, the chapter provides youth leadership opportunities for top high school sophomore and junior students by sponsoring their attendance at one of several 4-day in-residence Youth Leadership Conferences as well as recognizing Boy Scout Eagle Scouts and Girl Scout Gold Award recipients. The chapter also recognizes top ROTC/JROTC cadets at six local universities and 35 area high schools. Further, the chapter recognizes those individuals involved in Public Safety and First Responders for their continuing service to our community.
The mission of the Fort Worth Chapter Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) is to provide youth leadership opportunities for the top high school sophomores and junior students thru Youth Leadership Conferences conducted in Texas. And to recognize top leaders in ROTC/JROTC, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, as well as Public Safety Officers and First Responders all in keeping with the MOWW's motto, "It is Nobler to Serve than to be served" while "Serving Youth, Community and Nation."
It currently costs the chapter three hundred dollars ($300.00) to fund each student selected to attend one of the four Youth Leaderhip Conferences. In addition, the chapter supports 6 university and 35 area high schools by annually presenting 18 ROTC medal sets and 35 JROTC medal sets, plus recognition certificates for BSA Eagle Scouts and GSUSA Gold Award recipients Estimated annual cost is $5,000.00
Membership is open to a citizen of the United States of America of good moral character and repute who has served honorably on Active Duty, to include Active Duty for Training, in the Armed Forces of the United States of America (Active, Guard, Reserve) National Oceanographic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) or the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) as a federally-recognized Commissioned, Flight or Warrant Officer during the period 6 April 1917 to present.
