The Mesquite Symphony has always had a close relationship with Mesquite schools. Each year we award four scholarships to Mesquite ISD students, and we encourage advanced players in school orchestra programs, not only in Mesquite but across the metroplex, to join the orchestra for one or more concerts each season. We have often featured school choruses at our holiday concerts and brought in young soloists to perform with us. Even our orchestra's adult membership is an "educational" effort, as we offer these well-trained musicians an opportunity to perform the classics and orchestra pops, in addition to their "day jobs" as teachers, professionals, etc.
And our "impact" on the community isn't limited to education. We offer the city of Mesquite its own orchestra, to perform proudly at its own arts center, enriching daily life in this fast-growing suburb of Dallas. It's a contribution to civic spirit and to the City of Mesquite.
Our Needs
The Mesquite Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 37th season! In 2023-24 we'll perform a series of Saturday night concerts at the Mesquite Arts Center and continue our growing work with Mesquite ISD schools and students. For this season, the priority need is for funds to make possible new collaborations with area arts groups and the Mesquite Arts Center. We're also building our endowment, begun in 2015 with a donor's gift of $40,000, with help in the beginning from a citywide advisory council headed by Mesquite's Mayor. We've passed $60,000 to date, and this "Tomorrow Fund" is already providing needed operating funds each season for our series of Saturday night concerts. Gifts of any size are needed and welcome! Each donor will be recognized as a founding member of the fund.
