March to the Polls (MTTP) is a nonpartisan organization pursuing a more just and equitable democracy through voter empowerment.

We address the substantial gap between overall voter turnout and turnout among youth and people of color, to create thriving communities with strong civic engagement, which research shows have better outcomes in health, education, and income.

MTTP’s primary programs are:

  1. In-Class Voter Education- This program includes in-classroom voter education and registration for eligible students. Through partnerships with eight North Texas school districts and other individual schools, we help them comply with the Texas High School Voter Registration Act, which requires principals to provide two opportunities each school year for eligible students to register to vote.
  2. Student Voter Empowerment Clubs (SVEC) - These are on-campus, student-led civic engagement clubs open to students from grades 9-12 in North Texas public high schools, reaching approximately 20,000 students on 70 high school campuses annually.
  3. Community Programs- Our presence in the community is critical to building a culture of voting in underrepresented communities. MTTP hosts “Volunteer Deputy Registrar” trainings for hundreds of volunteers allowing community members to register others to vote under Texas law.

Funds from North Texas Giving Day will be used towards supplies and resources for our voter education and registration program, to establish new SVEC clubs, and to pay for club projects and activities.

In addition, funds will be used to provide a $1,200 annual stipend to the SVEC faculty sponsors, who help form the clubs and mentor the students.
