DCC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

_________________________________________________

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (D E & I) are core to the mission and values of Dallas Christian College as we seek to further the Kingdom of God. To pursue efforts in these areas, DCC launched the D E & I team in the Fall of 2018 composed of faculty, staff, and students. The 2020/2021 D E & I members include: Breanda Williams, Yesenia Muniz, Tyese Little, Lyndsey Neal, Hannah Minor, Ty Battles, Anthony Brewer, and Larry Thompson, who is leading the team.

D E & I Definitions:

Diversity refers to our uniqueness and differences as individuals and the value that we have as God's created children. Equity refers to the monitoring and tracking of our progress to ensure that we are being equitable as it relates to valuing our God-given uniqueness that each of us possess. Inclusion refers to the process whereby this diversity is accepted, respected, and ideas are included in our pursuit of God's kingdom work; all within the parameters of a Christian-world view, and diverse opinions are not excluded.

Our Vision:

Ensure that all of God's children are heard, valued, and respected.

Our Goal:

Dallas Christian College will value Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in regard to all individuals who interface with our institution. We strive to create an environment whereby all students, faculty, and staff are treated consistent with the Biblical standards because of our equality and unity in Christ. Galatians 3:27-28 states, "For all of you have been baptized into Christ and have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

Our Focus:

DCC, in support of D E and I, will always promote and advocate for individual personal growth, voices to be heard, and positive Christ-like actions to be taken, while maintaining a biblical worldview and an environment of trust and individual value. Our guiding principle in valuing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is, and will always be, in accordance with our biblical worldview and in obedience to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Diversity Equity & Inclusion Statement

We recognize and value each person as God's child and consistently align our approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion with biblical truth.

Purpose of D E & I

To develop a greater understanding of people from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences so that the DCC community will grow in love and unity.

How Does D E & I Affect Each of Us?

It affects our social environment and strengthens our community. Diversity enriches the educational experiences and challenges stereotyped preconceptions. It encourages critical thinking and helps students, staff, and faculty learn to communicate effectively with people from varied backgrounds.
