About Us

Our mission is about more than hosting great celebrations; it’s about helping instill confidence and hope for the future in children whose circumstances may have left them feeling isolated and overlooked. And, while we know that not every child has a home, every child has a birthday! That's  where you, our community of Birthday Enthusiasts, comes in! Your support will help ensure that all the children we serve feel seen, loved and celebrated!

Impact

Our celebrations and impact are experienced through our flagship program; In-person birthday parties.  These celebrations have been successful due to the generous support of the DFW community

Our in-person celebrations occur once a month, every month of the year, at partnering agency locations. Each party recognizes youth birthdays happening at the agency, and a new party theme is introduced each month so every child feels uniquely celebrated. Our in-person celebrations include themed activities, entertainment, decorations, music, special birthday cakes for the birthday children, hand-picked gifts according to the birthday child's special wish, cupcakes, and favor bags for the attending community. They are open to the whole agency community, so neighbors and friends can come to celebrate the children residing in the shelter. All attending children receive favor bags and cupcakes as part of the celebration, and the birthday children receive a personalized and wrapped gift, and birthday cake. And, of course, no celebration is complete without singing “Happy Birthday” in community.

Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of The Birthday Party Project (TBPP) is to bring joy to homeless children through the magic of birthdays. Our team equips and empowers volunteers from varying backgrounds to throw monthly themed birthday parties at our homeless and transitional living facilities. The Birthday Party Project weaves into the fabric of the communities it serves, in part, by tearing down barriers between people.

Needs

We celebrate kids ages 1-21, which means we need gifts for all age levels!

Specifically, our parties include everything you would think a birthday party would have- cake, decorations, games, crafts, and most importantly a photo booth. The photo booth- which we use Instax cameras and film- are the highlight of our parties because it gives our families who are experiencing such transition a memory to hold onto. Many of the families we work with have had to leave their homes quickly- sometimes due to safety concerns- and usually don't have much time to grab their belongings. Having tangible pictures and memories from our monthly celebrations are always treasured mementos that the kids, teens, and families enjoy! Making these memories matter and capturing these family moments, with smiles on their faces, is priceless.

Equity Statement

Our celebrations have offered a way for people of different world views backgrounds, and cultures to connect. When we share JOY, we are doing our part to mend more than the situational hurts that come from experiencing homelessness. Joy and Love have the power to mend hurting hearts. We believe all children should have a JOYful birthday experience, regardless of circumstance and are further committed to this core value by also promoting a workplace free from discrimination or unlawful harassment.
