The Artist Outreach, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

In 2017, one of our participating campus principals found that the 1st grade students who experienced TAO on a weekly basis had exceptional results. Students had an 83.33% passing rate with 66.67% masters (meaning that 2/3 of them received a Grade A), which was significantly higher than past results.

In 2016, TCU's Starpoint School and The Artist Outreach collaborated on a research project that demonstrated the effectiveness on fluency and reading using our program, Rhythmic Vocabulary. 97% of lower elementary had a marked improvement in the categories of speed and articulation.

Another observation we made in regularly performing Rhythmic Vocabulary in our campuses where we work with bilingual students: We see a serious need for Rhythmic Vocabulary because the phonetic and syllabic breakdown of English versus Spanish is so different. We have found that Hispanic students, where English is a second language, can greatly improve speech abilities by adding such a consistent component to their classroom.

Mission

The Artist Outreach changes the educational and emotional futures of those we serve through creative arts. We provide 3 program formats: The STREAMliners provides schools a supplemental education through the arts, combining STEM, creative arts and literature. Inspired Living is an art therapy program designed to help at-risk youth. Healing in Motion is dedicated to the adults (and Veterans) that we serve. We show them how creativity can be a part of their everyday tasks, such as culinary and nutrition.
