Life can change in an instant.
For Rey, that moment came while doing something he loved—racing mega trucks.
During a race, his truck flipped, leaving him with a devastating C5/C6 spinal cord injury.
In the blink of an eye, everything changed.
But Rey's story isn't defined by the day of his accident.
It's defined by what he's done every day since.
Together, Rey and his family have faced the challenges of spinal cord injury with remarkable courage, determination, and hope. They've committed themselves to doing everything they can to help Rey regain strength, independence, and the highest quality of life possible.
Recently, Rey traveled to REACT for his first intensive training session.
On paper, his injury is classified as complete, suggesting there is no motor or sensory function below the level of injury.
But people are more than what's written on paper.
During his very first session, our team observed encouraging movement in his fingers, meaningful function in his legs, and tremendous potential to build upon through intensive, neuroscience-based training.
Those moments don't tell us what the future will hold—but they do reinforce why continuing to train matters.
At REACT, our focus is helping the nervous system make the most of every opportunity. Through purposeful movement, sensory input, strength training, and repetition, we work to challenge the nervous system and build capacity over time.
Recovery isn't measured by a single breakthrough.
It's built through thousands of small victories that add up over months and years.
That's why consistency is so important.
Every donation made through this page is tax-deductible and is applied dollar for dollar toward Rey's training at REACT.
Your generosity helps provide additional training hours, giving Rey more opportunities to strengthen his body, challenge his nervous system, and continue pursuing greater independence.
Most importantly, your gift reminds Rey and his family that they are not in this journey alone.
Every hour of training is another opportunity.
Together, we can help him continue discovering what's possible.
