I am privileged to serve as the current Literacy Achieves board president – and even more privileged to be a volunteer teacher at the Literacy Achieves Vickery Meadow campus. I’m writing to you to ask you to consider supporting Literacy Achieves’ 2026 Wings of Spring event at a sponsorship level. This year, Wings of Spring will be on April 16, 2026, at the Dallas Museum of Art.
I first became involved with Literacy Achieves through my wife, Colleen. She has taught at Literacy Achieves for over twenty years and has also served as a board member and as board president. Over the years, I watched as she helped her students learn English and basic life skills. I saw her make a lasting difference in the lives of her students and their families. And I know how meaningful it has been to her to teach and to help carry out the mission of Literacy Achieves.
After retiring from law practice at the end of 2021, I joined the Board of Literacy Achieves in 2022 and began teaching a basic English class at the Vickery Meadow campus the fall of 2023. I’ve been able to see firsthand how lives are changed through the generosity of our donors and supporters.
For many years now, Colleen and I have donated at a sponsorship level for the Wings of Spring event, which is Literacy Achieves’ principal annual fundraising event. We have made those donations a priority in our annual giving. And I hope you will make it a priority, too.
Your donations in support of Literacy Achieves are literally gifts that keep on giving: the literacy and life skills we are able to teach to our students because of your generosity are invaluable not only to our current students and their families but also to their children’s children and generations to come.
