Back to school family funday

At Bridge of Abilities, we know that many special needs families struggle to find activities where their children feel safe, accepted, and included. Something as simple as a day at the pool can feel overwhelming when families worry about sensory needs, safety concerns, or whether staff truly understand their child.

That is why we are fundraising to host a Special Needs Family Swim Day — a day created specifically for families to relax, connect, and make joyful memories together. This event will provide trained special needs swim instructors, adaptive support in the water, and a welcoming environment where every child can participate at their own pace.

One of the most meaningful parts of this event is the opportunity for respite for parents and caregivers. Many special needs parents spend every day advocating, caregiving, and managing therapies, appointments, and daily challenges with little time to recharge. During this event, families will have support from trained staff and volunteers so parents can take a moment to breathe, connect with other families, or simply enjoy watching their child have fun without stress or judgment.
