Sidney Bailey - NTXGD Fundraiser

My name is Sidney Bailey and I am a sophomore at Booker T. When I’m not focused on my studies and arts, I’m committed to DUC, where I recently decided to take the journey that is rowing.

I started rowing in the 6th grade. It was an immediate love and passion for the sport. My competitive journey started spring of 7th grade, starting what I knew was the path for me to take. From that I have learned a lot from this sport. Determination, perseverance, time management, relations and many more lessons I plan to carry on throughout my life.

This road though, has not always been straight. There was a portion of time where I thought rowing might not be the proper calling for me. But I took a leap of faith and checked out DUC. This past summer stands out to me the most prominently when I think about my rowing career. The joy I felt on the water, the friends I made and the challenges I as well as the team overcame re-solidified my love and passion for the sport. The team worked tirelessly, in the early hours of the day to ensure we had a good 2024 Rowfest. 

Rowing has shaped me for who I am today, and I could not be more grateful.

As a team, we’ve set ambitious goals for the future, and improving our equipment is essential to achieving them. With your support, we can push ourselves even further and continue to raise the bar in the seasons to come.
