$50,000 Goal

The PYT Society (Prettier Than Your Testimony) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing diabetes education, advocacy, and community-based support. Our name reflects our core belief—that individuals are more than their diagnosis, and their strength, identity, and value extend beyond their health challenges.

We focus on helping youth, women, and families better understand and manage Diabetes Mellitus through practical, real-life education.

The PYT Society exists to bridge the gap between clinical guidance and everyday living by equipping individuals with the tools to manage blood sugar effectively, make kidney-conscious nutrition choices, and reduce the risk of long-term complications such as Chronic Kidney Disease.

Through accessible education and resource support, we help individuals understand how daily decisions what they eat, how they hydrate, and how they manage glucose directly impact their long-term kidney health and overall well-being.

Mission

The PYT Society is committed to empowering youth, women, and families impacted by Diabetes Mellitus through education, advocacy, and access to essential resources. Our mission is to provide practical, real-life tools that support effective blood sugar management, promote kidney-conscious nutrition, and help reduce the risk of long-term complications such as Chronic Kidney Disease.

Through community-based programs and support, we aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and confidence to take control of their health and improve long-term outcomes.

Needs

Diabetes continues to impact individuals and families at increasing rates, yet many lack access to practical, everyday education on how to properly manage Diabetes Mellitus and protect long-term kidney health.

We are seeking funding to establish a Dallas–Fort Worth Education and Resource Center to directly address this gap and provide consistent, hands-on education, resources, and support.

Why This Matters:

Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure in the United States.

Approximately 1 in 3 adults with diabetes may develop chronic kidney disease.

Chronic kidney disease affects more than 37 million adults in the U.S., and most do not know they have it.

Nearly 4 in 10 adults with diabetes show signs of kidney disease, often without early symptoms.

Kidney disease often develops silently over time, meaning individuals may not realize damage is occurring until the condition is advanced.

THE PROBLEM:

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of kidney disease in the United States. Many individuals are given basic dietary advice but are not provided with clear, practical guidance on how daily choices affect long-term kidney function.

Common gaps include:

-Conflicting nutrition advice for blood sugar emergencies

-Limited education on kidney-protective eating patterns

-Lack of accessible, practical daily management tools

-Insufficient support between medical visits

Without proper education and support, long-term diabetes management can contribute to serious complications, including Chronic Kidney Disease and renal failure.

OUR SOLUTION:

The PYT Society provides hands-on education and resources that teach individuals how to manage diabetes while protecting kidney health and improving long-term outcomes.

We provide:

Diabetes education classes

Kidney-conscious nutrition training

Youth and family support programs

-Emergency glucose management education

-Resource kits with essential tools

-Community workshops and outreach

WHY FUNDING IS ESSENTIAL:

We cannot fully deliver this vision without a dedicated physical space.

We are seeking funding to:

-Establish a Dallas–Fort Worth Education and Resource Center

-Provide consistent in-person diabetes education and workshops

-Distribute diabetes care kits and learning materials

-Offer family support and resource navigation services

-Expand access to underserved individuals and families

This center is the foundation needed to bring this vision to life and provide sustainable, ongoing support for the community.

Equity Statement

The PYT Society is committed to ensuring that all individuals impacted by Diabetes Mellitus have fair and meaningful access to education, resources, and support needed to manage their health and improve long-term outcomes.

We recognize that barriers such as limited access to health education, nutrition guidance, monitoring tools, and consistent care contribute to disparities in diabetes outcomes and related complications, including Chronic Kidney Disease.

Our approach centers on removing these barriers by providing accessible, community-based programming, practical education, and resource support. PYT is committed to meeting individuals where they are and ensuring that every person—regardless of circumstance—has the opportunity to learn, understand, and take control of their health with dignity and support.
