Lake Highlands Junior Women's League

A nonprofit organization

The Lake Highlands Women's League was founded in 1969 to unite and promote the Lake Highlands area through service to the community by civic, educational, and charitable programs.

The Lake Highlands Junior Women's League began when two young women, who grew up in Lake Highlands, decided there was a need in the neighborhood for a group that would capitalize on the energy and talents of young women in it. The goal was to create a social organization in order for the young women to establish roots and relationships in the neighborhood, while at the same time having a positive impact on the community.

In 2004, six young women, all graduates of Lake Highlands High School from 1989-1997, formed a steering committee. In November 2004, 85 charter members held the first general meeting and represented what is now LHJWL. In April 2005, we held our first annual "Run the Highlands" 5K Run and 1 Mile Family Walk. We currently have over 100 members and have raised over $450,000 for the Lake Highlands Community in the last fifteen years.

Mission

Instilling a sense of community for young women in Lake Highlands through volunteer and social activities with a focus on raising funds for the beautification and improvement of the community.
