For the past 6 years I have volunteered with Living For Zachary and I feel passionate about the work they are doing to help bring awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in youth. Through generous donations they are able to educate parents and youth on the risk of SCA, gift Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to youth based organizations, and provide FREE heart screenings that have detected issues and saved countless lives to youth across North Texas!

I have had the opportunity to meet families whose children have been lost to sudden cardiac arrest, as well as those who have been saved. I've seen firsthand the ways in which heartbreak can be turned into purpose--and when it comes to saving kids' lives, I can't think of a better purpose. Education and awareness are some of the best tools we have to prevent tragedies of the past from occurring in the future, and Living for Zachary is equipping our communities each and every day with the information and resources they need to protect children's hearts. I hope you'll join me in the fight against SCA and make an impact across North Texas!

This year for North Texas Giving Day, help me and Living for Zachary tackle Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and continue to help us save lives. Living for Zachary will use the money raised to purchase new AED's, hold free heart screenings for kids ages 12-22, hold CPR & AED Certification courses, and assist students in fulfilling their dreams in the medical field, by donating student scholarships. Let your heart be heard, and be a part of Living for Zachary's team this year during North Texas Giving Day.

I founded Living for Zachary in honor of my son Zachary Schrah, who was only 16 years old when he collapsed during a high school football practice in Plano on April 2, 2009. Living for Zachary is dedicated to raising awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in youth and saving lives through community education and awareness events, promoting youth heart screenings, awarding student scholarships and donating Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to youth-based organizations.
