Most people think of prison ministry as just going into the prisons but the real work of prison ministry begins after a person is released, and this is where Hope Prison Ministries is most active: in the community! From arranging their food, clothing and shelter to picking them up at the bus station and taking them to all of their required destinations, mentoring, holding them accountable, connecting them with local churches, assisting them with training, education and job placement, Hope Prison Ministries sees them through their incarceration and reintegration from beginning to end.
Hope Prison Ministries currently operates many entry-level and graduate, Christ-Centered transitional houses in Fort Worth, TX! Our current monthly budget to support these houses and the men in them is $66,031.09/mo! We need your help. Additionally, we are receiving more calls from all across the country than ever before.
This year, we are particularly excited about the launch of The Timothy Program. Every year, many youth are released from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice with no ideal place for them to go. To meet the needs of these at-risk youth (between the ages of 18 and 25), Hope Prison Ministries launched The Timothy Program.
This program consists of one of more homes that house young men, and will provide a structured program of care under the direct supervision of one or more mentors. Program participants are mentored through the process of obtaining their identification, completing a faith-based and life skills curriculum, pursuing their education and/or finding and maintaining employment, opening a bank account and saving money until such time as they are ready to transition to independence.
The cost for this program is estimated to be $183,000/year. To date, we have received no state, federal or foundation funding for this program, and the youth come to us without family support. We need your support for this program!
The mission of Hope Prison Ministries is to teach the life-changing hope of the gospel, to those in prison and after they are released, through faithful, consistent, Christ-centered modeling and application of it, and to equip others to do the same, for their eternal good and His glory!
Hope Prison Ministries greatest need is to increase its base of regular, monthly support. We have many people who give one-time, and we have friends and families who give to help us help their loved one, but we have few who give to regularly support the cost of the ministry itself.
The ministry needs biblically educated pen pals for its in-prison mentoring program.
The ministry also needs mature Christian men to mentor those in our aftercare ministry.
The ministry needs volunteers who are willing to transport those under our care to various, necessary appointments.
Hope Prison Ministries will not exclude anyone from our ministry on the basis of the protected classes. We are a faith-based, Christ-centered ministry, of course. As such, any person coming under our care must agree to abide by the same rules as anyone else. As long as they are willing to do so, here, they will find a safe space and a fresh start!
