First Refuge Ministries believes that every person has worth and value because they are created by God. We aim to honor God and bring Him glory by reaching out to our under-served neighbors with an open door, healing hands and a generous heart prepared to serve, love and encourage others no matter who they are. Our goal is to minister to the entire person, including physical, emotional and spiritual needs, by offering essential services to those in our community.
We would not exist without our volunteers. All of our services are through the generosity of volunteer health professionals.
Our services include:
Medical (available by appointment during the week)
RX Relief Program
Well Woman Exam
Flu Shots given in October and November
Community Health Screenings
Dental (Opened Mondays and Tuesdays 9am-12pm, 1-4pm for screenings; available by appointment)
We are the only Dental Clinic in Denton County offering No Cost Dental
Care for adults and offering quality dental care to those in the community who are
unable to afford dental services.
Our services include dental screenings, extractions, fillings, root canals, dentures, partials, and cleanings.
Counseling (available by appointment)
We provide Christian counseling to the community. We offer counseling services to individuals, couples, families and groups.
Counseling services will be based on a relationship characterized by trust and respect. The counselor and client will work together to identify goals for counseling and to move toward meeting those goals. Our desire is to offer hope and healing.
Food Pantry (Opened Mondays: 9 am-12 pm | Wednesdays: 1-4 pm | Thursdays: 6-8 pm)
We assist people in our community (Denton County, north of Lake Lewisville) who are hungry and in need of food during a financial crisis.
Our Food Pantry is a "Choice Pantry" This method provides the client an opportunity to choose foods based upon their dietary needs as well as the convenience of choosing items that will supplement what they already have at home.
Clients may come to the Food Pantry once every 30 days during operation hours.
