Through our work we have saved and placed over 1700 dogs in new homes throughout the DFW Metroplex. We also help people re-home their dogs through proper vetting of potential adopters to assure the dogs don't end up in bad situations. We supply help to families that have dogs they love but need help with vetting and assist in capturing stray or lost dogs. Our shelter focus is on dogs with major injuries or illnesses.

Mission

DFW's FurGotten Friends provides a safe haven for stray and abandoned dogs while we search for their new forever homes. We take care of any and all health issues, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping and supply love and socialization for the ones who can't speak for themselves. Through the efforts of a few we strive to save many. All this is done with the help of volunteers and donations from the people who are passionate about the dogs the world has turned its back on.

Needs

We always have the following volunteer-based needs:

FOSTERS - As a foster-based dog rescue, we always are looking for fosters. Whether that be long term, short term of anything in between, we are always on the lookout for amazing people to help us give a short-term or long-term home to a dog in need!

FOSTER COORDINATORS - help process foster applications, assist our foster parents, and ways to grow our foster base.

MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA - We need help getting word out about the the dogs and puppies in our rescue! We could use help on photos of the dogs for the website and social media, gathering information about the dogs and help writing their bios, and posting to websites like Petfinder.

EVENTS - One of the best ways for our puppies and dogs to get find homes is through adoption and other rescue related events. We need volunteers who can attend events to help promote our mission, raise donations, recruit volunteers and fosters, and talk to potential adopters. This would include sitting at our booth or hanging our available dogs/puppies while representing DFW Furgotten Friends.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND DATE ENTRY - we need help tracking all of the information on the dogs and animals that come into our rescue - from initial intake and vet visits, who is fostering, to ongoing vetting needs and visits, all the way through to adoption. This can be a volunteer position done remotely as well as in Dallas.

Please reach out to us if you would like to volunteer and be part of the DFWFGF family!
