Who we are

Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) is a community foundation, which means we bring people together to build thriving communities for all--whether that be here locally or across the state. We work side-by-side with people like you putting charitable dollars to work stimulating creative solutions to critical challenges in our community. In addition to managing more than 1,000 funds for individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits, we also run key initiatives like North Texas Giving Day, Educate Texas, Best in Class, Community Impact Grantmaking, Fund for Collin County, and more.

Since 1953, individuals, families, and businesses have relied on Communities Foundation of Texas as their charitable giving partner to help educate children, make communities safer, improve healthcare, and more. We've been honored to enhance their impact through tools like donor-advised funds, scholarships, and North Texas Giving Day, resulting in $2 billion to support nonprofits in our region, across the nation, and beyond.

Mission

Our community is a special place, with a long history of caring citizens, rapid growth, and a robust economy. But as it continues to grow, so do the needs of those facing imbalances in income, racial equity, and educational and economic opportunity. And data suggests these needs will only increase. But the future of our community can remain bright.

At Communities Foundation of Texas, we work side by side with caring donors, committed nonprofits, philanthropy-focused businesses, and civic leaders to help build communities that thrive for all.

Our mission is to improve the lives of all people in our community by investing in their health, wealth, living, and learning. We accomplish this by growing community giving, expanding community impact, and advancing community equity.

Equity Statement

Communities Foundation of Texas is committed to advancing equity as one of our three strategic priorities to fulfill our mission and achieve our vision.

As your community foundation, our vision is of a community where every person has the opportunity to thrive. Our mission is to improve the lives of all people in our community, and we recognize that there are groups that have historically faced and continue to experience discrimination, injustice, and unequal access to basic resources, community spaces, and economic opportunities.

CFT believes that all community members:

• should feel welcome, safe, and accepted.

• should be treated with respect and dignity.

• should have equitable access to opportunities to improve their lives and the lives of their families.

We are dedicated to both working internally with our staff and culture and learning and leading externally with partners across our community to create thriving communities for all.
