Academic Success Program Dallas

A nonprofit organization

Throughout its 20 year history, ASP has been recognized both nationally and statewide as a top program in education by the National College Access Network, National Education Association, the National Education Board in Washington, D.C., the Texas Education Agency, and the Texas Association of School Administrators. By staying focused on individual students and trends in the college admissions process, ASP enjoys tremendous success. Students who would not have otherwise considered going to college are able to attend the top colleges and universities with 100% of their financial need met. Many ASP students have been accepted to (and graduated from!) the top universities throughout the United States, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, University of Chicago, Stanford, MIT, Duke, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, Wellesley, Boston College, Brandeis, Bowdoin, Colgate, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, and many other colleges and universities throughout out the country. As of Fall 2020, there are more than 5,300 ASP Scholars enrolled in colleges and universities across the United States and abroad.

Our Needs

We are currently trying to fund the development of a student portal to support our college advising efforts, which will include appropriate college and financial aid information.

In addition, we are raising funds to bring back our ASP Academic Signing Day event to celebrate the accomplishments of all our Dallas area students while encouraging underclassmen to dream big. While budget constraints have limited us to celebrating these on a campus level, we believe that bringing together 17 DallasISD high schools for one event will allow to us to show students that it doesn't matter where in Dallas you come from, college is a real and attainable goal for all DallasISD students.

Lastly, we would like to bring back our Symposium for Multicultural Recruitment, a premier conference for college admissions officers and college counselors to receive professional development in recruiting first-generation and minority students, educating Dallas area high school counselors in how to effectively teach students to be strong college applicants, and lastly, introducing our high school students to the very admissions officers who will be reading their applications and allowing them to receive valuable advice in the college application process. This conference is designed to help level the playing field for students who come from less resourced backgrounds and schools.

Mission

We believe education has the power to transform. ASP's focus is to do more than help students gain admission and scholarships to attend college; the ultimate goal of ASP is to change students' lives and their communities.
