Our fight is a universal one. We are fighting for people to get better jobs and achieve financial stability, students to graduate high school ready for college and careers, and individuals to lead healthier lives.
Now more than ever, communities need help, they need hope. United Way surrounds a community's most critical problems-and we fight.
Education is a cornerstone for success in school, work, and life. It is one of the primary keys to breaking the generational cycle of poverty. High school graduates have higher earning potential, contribute more to their local economies, are more engaged in their communities, and are more likely to raise kids outside the limitations of poverty.
Our needs focus on ensuring that every child is given an opportunity to be kindergarten-ready, so all Grayson County children are grade-level readers by third grade.
Our community goal is working toward surpassing all state and national averages to give all Grayson County children a bright future.
The first goal is for children to enter school ready to succeed. For this to happen, strategies include families needing to be equipped to support the optimal development of their children, children need to be in early learning environments that nurture and stimulate growth along all developmental domains, and community services should be coordinated and accessible, as well as policies should effectively address the needs of children and families alike.
United Way of Grayson County aims to mobilize the caring power of our community for childhood success, youth success, financial stability and health.
