$5,000 Goal

The Golden Gloves Youth Development Association has been operating a gym for amateur boxers in this area since the early 1950's. In the summer of 1973, a dream of many years came true with the construction of the present Golden Gloves Youth Center at 1040 N. Henderson. The facility was made possible by proceeds from past Golden Gloves tournaments, contributions from Amon G. Carter Foundation, the Star Telegram and many other individuals and businesses. Prior to the erection of this building, the gym was located in a portion of the Tarrant County fire hall at 501 North Calhoun across the Lagrave Field. The Youth Center is owned and operated by the Golden Gloves Youth Development Association, and is one of only few Golden Gloves Gyms in the nation. The Golden Gloves program provides an opportunity for athletes to participate in a major sports event and allows many to get involved. The Golden Gloves is successful due the energy and talent of the amateur boxers, and the volunteers who give their time.
Also, our gym is available free of charge to local clubs and amateur boxers.

Our Needs

We need advertising, monetary donations, volunteers, and equipment for our gym.

Mission

Our mission is to keep kids and teenagers out of the streets. We prioritize in teaching the athletes to be law abiding citizens. Boxing will teach an athlete to be self-disciplined and to respect themselves as well as others. We teach them to stay in school and continue their education even after high school. Most of our volunteers come from being a Golden Gloves boxer.

We would love to continue to provide a free gym for our boxers and coaches to utilize. As well as to continue to take them to the National Tournaments that is conducted in different parts of the United States. Travel, hotel, food, uniforms are provided to the 10 Men and 10 Women State Champions each year.

Boxing bags, speed bags, double end bags, jump ropes, medicine balls, ring mat, ring ropes, gloves and mitts.
