$25,000 Goal

TREC Community Investors facilitates the revitalization of North Texas’ most underserved neighborhoods through collaborative, transformative placemaking. By uniting pro-bono industry expertise, critical financial capital, and the vision of respected community organizations and residents, our model addresses systemic issues block by block to create long-term positive and equitable impact.

Throughout our history, we have worked with more than 750 organizations, funded grants for more than 250 nonprofits, and invested nearly $19 million into neighborhood revitalization initiatives, life-changing educational programs and entrepreneurial opportunities, and critical community resources not previously available in the neighborhoods we serve. Our initiatives help increase essential services, create jobs, expand affordable housing, and rejuvenate our city’s disinvested communities while honoring their rich histories and cultures.

About the Dallas Catalyst Project (DCP)

In 2018, we introduced the Dallas Catalyst Project as a holistic, place-based revitalization initiative alongside three nonprofit partners that focused TREC’s philanthropic resources on the Forest District neighborhood in South Dallas. The DCP sought to promote equitable development, improve the quality of life for residents, increase job preparedness and wealth creation opportunities, enhance safety and infrastructure, and support mixed-income and affordable housing. To date, Dallas Catalyst Project: Forest District has produced 22 completed real estate projects and redeveloped 68,200 square feet of space through more than $3 million in cash investments, $1 million in pro bono services, and 3,300 volunteer hours from TREC members – all benefiting more than 12,000 residents. The initiative has been so successful that we are now planning to take the Dallas Catalyst Project to a new neighborhood beginning in 2024, as we continue to complete our commitments to the Forest District.
