Sisters Taking On the Prevention of Suicide

A nonprofit organization

Sisters Taking On the Prevention of Suicide (STOPS) was founded in May 2015 by Andrea Mustin, a wife whose former husband, Eric D. Wright, lived with bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and anxiety. The man who was her soul mate of 20 years died by suicide on December 2, 2013, and she didn't see it coming.

For women who have friends and/or loved ones living with a mental illness, Sisters Taking On the Prevention of Suicide is a nonprofit, mental health awareness organization that inspires and gives hope through education, resources, inspiration, and community. Two of our key approaches for raising awareness are our Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course and Sisters Helping Each Other (SHE), our peer-to-peer support group.

In our MFHA classroom training, our goal is to equip 20 women per quarter with the skills to identify and respond to those exhibiting signs of mental illnesses or substance abuse, and through SHE, our goal is to offer monthly meetings for caregiving women interested in receiving information and sisterly support to cope with their circumstances.

At STOPS, we believe a single flame can light one thousand candles. With our programs, we trust we can ignite a fire in every woman's heart and commit her to fighting the battle against suicide, so she may, in turn, spread her flames throughout her community and eventually the entire world.

Our Needs

Generous donations will enable Sisters Taking On the Prevention of Suicide to accomplish its mission - to reduce suicide rates by delivering mental health awareness training and support to women who have friends and/or loved ones living with a mental illness. Please help us win this war against suicide by donating today. The total cost for a person to attend the Mental Health First Aid course and become a certified Mental Health First Aider is valued at $170. Examples of what your gift can provide are as follows: | $20 - participant manual for the Mental Health First Aid course | $75 - classroom supplies for the Mental Health First Aid course, which includes pens, paper, markers, and other office supplies | $50 - materials and supplies for the SHE peer-to-peer monthly support group meetings | $2,200 - cost of training one new instructor who then can train hundreds of people in the potentially life-saving skills of Mental Health First Aid.
Your donation will help us inspire the belief that individuals experiencing mental health challenges can and do get better. Please help us win this war against suicide in the United States, and please join us in our path to helping those who are living with a mental illness. Together we will put a STOP to suicide.
