HP Arts

A nonprofit organization

To date, HP Arts has provided over $1.3 million of arts programming and equipment to benefit HPISD students in grades K through 12. HP Arts also supports major district art events such as the Highlander Festival Arts Showcase and the Literary Festival at HPHS. The Artisan newsletter is published three times a year to update HP Arts patrons on current activities.

While the main focus of HP Arts is arts enrichment for current students, there is also a broader reach. The HP Arts Scholarships provide HPHS graduating seniors who will study fine arts throughout high school and will continue to pursue arts in the future. The Arts Advocate Award honors a community member who has been a significant supporter of arts in HPISD. HP Arts host a Faculty Appreciation Event each year for fine arts faculty and give Arts in Education Teacher Awards to a fine arts teacher and a non-arts teacher who uses the arts to enrich the classroom curriculum.

Our Needs

Despite generous contributions from HPISD families and La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, HP Arts does not have the resources to approve many of the requests made by district teachers. Our most significant need is additional funding so that HP Arts can provide more arts programs and enrichment activities. Teachers are given the freedom to make requests, facilitating exposure to various visual and performing arts, including Art, Band, Choir, Dance, Orchestra, Opera, Symphony, Theater, and Literature. HP Arts also supports arts integration within the core and non-arts classes.

Mission

HP Arts is an independent nonprofit whose mission is to fund arts enrichment activities at all eight Highland Park Independent School District campuses. HP Arts was founded on the principle - supported by numerous studies - that arts education plays a vital role in our students' overall development and academic success.

Equity Statement

HPISD is steadfast in our commitment to having a safe environment based upon mutual respect for all students entrusted in our care. We also recognize our important role as educators to demonstrate to both our students and the community that we value all individuals equally while rejecting all forms of racism, bigotry, hateful rhetoric, and hateful actions. HPISD is committed to every student every day. We will not waiver from that commitment.
