Located in Sherman, Grand Central Station (GCS) is a hub of support for members of the Grayson County community. Our work is organized into three substantial programs, all of which are offered at no cost to those who need them: 

  1. The Dining Car - Volunteers, led and supported by GCS staff, prepare and serve a hot breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday for anyone in need of a meal (9:00am to 12:45pm). On Saturdays, to-go meals are prepared and distributed beginning at 9:00am. Restrooms, showers, washers and dryers, computers, and advocacy and referral services are also available - all in a clean, comfortable, climate-controlled environment. Approximately 100 to 150 persons are served each day.
  2. Children's Express - Volunteers prepare and deliver to local public schools weekend food supplies for children in need. GCS anticipates serving over 600 children each week of the 2023-24 school year.
  3. The Market Depot Food Pantry - Food, clothing, hygiene, and household products are available in the pantry from 1:00 to 4:00pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

We provide food, tools for learning, advocacy, and life solutions for our neighbors in need, in an environment of safety.

Needs

Financial gifts to be used where most needed across our three programs.

Volunteer support preparing and serving meals in The Dining Car weekdays and Saturdays throughout the year.

Donations of food, hygiene, and household items. Most needed in fall 2023 are cereal, full size toiletries, any canned meats, large canned beans, and sugar.
