Cancer treatment takes a toll physically, emotionally and financially. Women who have undergone surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation are faced with a host of issues stemming from invasive treatments. They encounter range of motion issues, lymphedema, pain, weakness, tightness, fatigue, feelings of isolation and loss, and much, much more. Studies show exercise can help survivors not only feel better, but also reduce chances of cancer recurrence.
Cancer StrongHER aims to help female cancer survivors regain their strength and sense of well-being. We promote an active lifestyle and encourage survivors to try new activities that are not only appropriate and safe for survivors, but also fun, inclusive and provide a sense of community and camaraderie. Survivors never know if their cancer will return, so we aim to assist them in maintaining their strength to help them feel stronger and more empowered now, but also prepared in the instance their cancer should return. We make sure no one is excluded based on ability to pay because all of our monthly classes are free-of-charge.
We started by offering our first free monthly fitness boxing class in May 2018. Since then, we have greatly expanded our offerings to include free yoga, tennis, Pickleball, rowing, Pilates, FitCamp, bungee, barre classes and many more active lifestyle opportunities. We have plans to continue expanding our programs and reach to our local communities and beyond!
Cancer StrongHER promotes an active lifestyle for female survivors of all types of cancer through fitness boxing, yoga, tennis, Pickleball, Pilates, rowing, kickboxing, FitCamp and other activities that are free-of-charge to all female survivors who wish to participate. We give survivors the chance to fight back against cancer and regain control of their well-being through a free and fun active-lifestyle program.
We are most in need of monetary donations to expand our free fitness and active-lifestyle classes. We also welcome donations of trainer or instructor expertise to guide survivors in a new sport or fitness routine, donations of fitness/activity and meeting space, and donations of fitness equipment.
