This year on North Texas Giving Day, I am raising funds to support the nurses at our hospitals through the THR Foundation’s Nursing Excellence Fund. Our nurses are the backbone of our hospitals and they are the main players in providing compassionate care to patients and in improving the health of our communities.

The Nursing Excellence Fund provides funding to THR nurses who are seeking tuition reimbursement for baccalaureate or advanced degrees; or who are continuing their professional education through conferences, specialty certifications or research fellowships; or who are pursuing other formal opportunities to further their knowledge and expertise. Over the past five years, I have been fortunate to serve on the Nursing Excellence Board and have witnessed firsthand how the Nursing Excellence Fund has made a huge difference to many of our nurses and, through them, to patients throughout the entire Texas Health Resources system.

Mary Robinson, Chief Nursing Executive says “Nurses are the core and strength of the organization at Texas Health Resources. Now more than ever following the tough years of the pandemic, we really want to support our nurses to have the opportunity for professional growth to help them live their life's best work. The Nursing Excellence fund allows us to provide assistance to nurses looking to grow in their profession, which ultimately helps to promote overall nurse satisfaction and retention."

Development of professional practices through learning is essential for continued improvement. I invite you to join me this year on North Texas Giving Day in supporting our nurses by giving to the Nursing Excellence Fund. No gift is too large or too small. Together let’s show our nurses how much we appreciate, respect, and support them!
