Wellness for Life

Karen grew up learning to prioritize giving. Passionate about serving her community, she encourages others to get involved when they can, like North Texas Giving Day. Karen supports the Texas Health Resources’ Wellness for Life Mobile Health program, which provides essential screenings like mammograms, wellness exams and colon cancer screenings to underserved communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She has been a Texas Health Resources Foundation board member for two years and has made it her mission to continue the legacy of giving that her parents started.

 In 2022, mobile units visited 365 sites, reaching more than 9,300 square miles in nine counties of North Texas. Community locations for mobile events included retail partner sites, community-based clinics, churches, and health fairs.

The mobile health unit provides additional health care services including wellness exams, cardio evaluations, pap smears and prostate and colon cancer screenings. Wellness exams include blood tests for diabetes and cholesterol. Karen finds comfort knowing her donations are impacting others who otherwise couldn’t afford this care.
