Raise Your Voice is an arts and social justice nonprofit organization. We exist to enhance the lives of youth and young adults across multiple states, educating them on the power of creative expression, empowering them to use their voices for social justice, and equipping them with the knowledge on how to make a living with art via the Living Art summer camp, year-round in-school programming, and experiential learning field trips.
We understands that poverty can’t just be defined as not having money-its also about lacking the access to resources that can help an individual live a whole life. It has been widely known that when public school budget cuts are made, arts programs are always the first to go. Arts are important for many reasons; they help children develop cultural awareness and experience the world in new ways, they provide a sense of community with shared experiences, but most importantly, the arts provide a safe place for children to be creative regardless of race or socioeconomic background.
