Julia's Center for Healthcare is a 501c3 agency that opened it's doors to the working poor and uninsured adult residents of Plano and Collin County in 2016. The availability of Healthcare for adults in Collin County is limited and in many cases unaffordable. In addition, most available resources operate primarily out of McKinney and/or during regular business hours 5 days a week which makes care for the working residents in Plano either very difficult or inaccessible. Julia's Center is a free service and opens in the evening when transportation and availability is less of a problem. The Center is staffed 100% by volunteer providers and had nearly over 1100 patient visits in 2019. Because Collin County has no County hospital, and residents don't qualify for care at Parkland, uninsured low income residents don't have affordable access to healthcare. As a result, when they become ill they may be unable to support their families. With the mandatory closures due to COVID19 the unemployment rate has skyrocketed, and with the loss of jobs, comes the lose of health insurance for those who had it. We've already seen an increase in demand with the influx of new patients requiring care and we expect further increases as 2020 progresses.
Operational funds to pay for diabetic supplies, cost of lab studies, equipment, rent/utilities, office supplies and insurance.
The mission and sole purpose of the clinic is to reflect God's love by providing quality healthcare, education and advocacy with dignity and compassion to the adult residents of Collin County who are uninsured regardless of their ability to pay.
