Some programs targeted at national film festivals and potential PBS award winning time slots nationally. [Episodes of "Echoes from the Hill" Documentary Series.]

Your History Connection! We connect you to Arlington history, through our Historic Fielder Museum, Knapp Heritage Park, and the Arlington Heritage Memorial Grounds on Arkansas Lane - via tours, programs, changing exhibits, and special events. The Arlington Historical Society, originally called the Cemetery Society, was founded in 1887 by members dedicated to gathering and preserving historical information related to the founding and growth of Arlington.
On June 23, 2020 the City Council of Arlington created a citizen-led Unity Council, which was tasked with the following activities for which the National League of Cities selected the City of Arlington as the winner of its 2021 Cultural Diversity Awards:
"Gather community input on the need to use equitable measures to build greater equality,
Study equity strategies that the City could implement to promote and encourage greater equality,
Report findings and recommendations to the City Council, and
Create an equity plan which includes strategies to eliminate racism and other forms of discrimination and to advance unity in Arlington."
Prior to the creation of this committee and official charges, the Arlington Historical Society has proudly long embraced and valued diversity, equity, and inclusion - from its board members to curricular foci, via preservation of historic places and structures, maintaining archives, and educating our community. This entails preservation of history, including sites related to area indigenous First Americans going back in time prior to Texas becoming a Republic, and the earliest burial grounds in Arlington for Black members of our community.
Educating the community with our history contributes to better understanding, and links individuals through the thread of time - uniting us.
