Cancer Blows

A nonprofit organization

CancerBlows was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime musical event bringing together legendary trumpet players in a special concert and after-party. Over 30 trumpeters including Doc Severinsen from The Tonight Show, multiple-Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval, Lee Loughnane from the band Chicago and former trumpet players from Canadian Brass gathered in Dallas, TX to play a concert in 2015 to help Ryan Anthony, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's principal trumpet and former Canadian Brass member raise money for cancer research. The event sold out and, due to popular demand, additional concerts have been held around the country featuring even more amazing musicians like Canadian Brass, Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews Band), Wayne Bergeron, Wycliffe Gordon, the Memphis Symphony and many more. CancerBlows' most recent concert was back in Dallas at the Meyerson Symphony Center with the Dallas Symphony on March 9, 2023.

CancerBlows concerts have become a beacon of hope for cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and the medical community that serves them. The concerts have also inspired amazing new compositions including the beautiful "Song Of Hope" by Peter Meechan; "The Hydra Vanquished" by Stanley Friedman and "Luminescence" by Allen Vizzutti.

In June 2020, Ryan Anthony, the founder of CancerBlows, passed away after an almost eight year battle with multiple myeloma. The Ryan Anthony Foundation/CancerBlows continues the music and the mission in his memory.

North Texas Giving Day donations help underwrite the day-to-day costs of maintaining the foundation and allow CancerBlows to continue putting on concerts to raise money for cancer research, inspire patients and ultimately find a cure.

Mission

Through exciting & unique musical events featuring the talents of legendary brass musicians, CancerBlows raises both awareness and money to support cancer research with a focus on blood cancers & multiple myeloma.

The Ryan Anthony Foundation was created in 2014 to manage and support CancerBlows events. The foundation strives to keep expenses to a minimum so that the majority of money given is used for its true purpose - to improve cancer treatment outcomes and ultimately find a cure.
